Personal data

Short description
I have been working on electrochemical phase boundaries and electrode processes for more than 30 years. This includes questions in the field of electrocatalysis, electrochemical deposition and dissolution processes, nanostructuring, corrosion processes, passivation, adsorption and fundamental questions on the structure and dynamics of electrochemical interfaces on the atomic scale. These are investigated by my group using in-situ and operando methods, specifically X-ray scattering techniques using synchrotron radiation and scanning probe microscopy. Current projects in the field of energy research deal with issues in electrolysis, fuel cells, electrochemical CO2 reduction, chemical hydrogen storage in LOHCs and the introduction of students to hydrogen technology.
